  • Witch Trials: A Worldwide Chronology by Mary Ellen Snodgrass

    This book has it all if you want to learn about witch trials throughout all of history and all around the world. Detailed and extensive, this book was used as reference for episode 14 The Dark History of Witches.

  • Retrospect of Western Traval Volume 2 by Harriet martineau

    This book covers a lot that Harriet saw and lived through but this one was used for the section regarding Madame LaLaurie, the most dastardly woman in New Orleans! Used as a reference for episode 23 Madame LaLaurie: The Dark History Behind the LaLaurie Mansion.

  • The man-eaters of tsavo and other east african adventures by john henry patterson

    Boy this one was a doozy! Read about how two lions terrorized and decimated a group of workers in Africa. Informative and sad but definitely worth a read if you liked the episode! Referenced in episode 24 The Man-Eaters of Tsavo: The Lions That Hunted Humans.

  • Front Page: 100 years of the Los Angeles Times

    Oh my gosh I love this book! It is exactly as the title states, just the front page for 100 years- between 1881-1981. Super interesting to go through! Referenced in episode 49 The Titanic: A Ticket to Disaster.

  • Ten Days in a Mad-house by Nellie Bly

    This was a sad read but so unbelievably influential and important. Read about Nellie’s experience in a mental hospital and learn why a reform was needed! Referenced in episode 48 Ten Days in the Madhouse: Nellie Bly's Undercover Asylum Investigation.

  • The Illustrated Life and Times of Doc Holliday by Bob Boze Bell

    My man! Legendary gunslinger Doc Holliday’s life is detailed through this super interesting read. If you love a good western character, you’ll love this one! Referenced in episode 52 Tombstone: The Earps, the Cowboys, and the OK Corral .

  • Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl

    This book has been named as one of the top most influencial books in the U.S. Describing not only Frankl’s experiences in various concentration camps, it also goes into his psychological anyaslis of the experience and his belief in logotherapy. Used in epsiode 58 Viktor Frankl: Surviving the Holocaust to Redefine Psychology.

  • Twelve Days of Terror by Richard G. Fernicola MD

    Friends, I loved this book so much. It goes into such detail and even provides sketches to accompany the story. This is a great read to get more information on the true story that inspired Steven Spielberg’s Jaws. Used in episode 59 Twelve days of Terror: The Real Life Jaws Story.
